Problems with thinkorswim Sync 20110308

Everytime I try to sync my accounts to thinkorswim, the sync fails and I get an error message about an invalid login or password. I have contacted thinkorswim and they confirmed the format for the login id, account number, and password. All is set up correctly. Why does this not work? The syncing has worked fine until yesterday.

It seems there have been issues associated with sync following the acquisition of thinkorswim and integration into the Ameritrade system. There may be a need to use a file download solution instead. It is not prudent for us to engineer a custom solution to work around their restrictions because they can make another change.

We welcome an opportunity to work with their team but they not responded to our offers to work together or the interested parties at Ameritrade are not aware of these issues and the importance to their customers. This will affect our business model going forward. Maybe we should just abandon the market because it is not productive to grow a business chasing a disinterested partner and with limited marketing opportunities to recover engineering resources. If you like what we are doing then they need to hear your voice loud and clear.

It is likely they will suggest using one of their solutions. This means that without strong customer requests there is little we can do because the login failure messages are coming from their server. Keep in mind, this has worked fine in the past, our software has been the same then and working, then something broke. This means the primary variable is their server configuration. Something has changed on their end. The most effective way to solve this is with their help.

Please let them know that we can offer TA to their customers at a compelling price if they would just offer a little support. People love third party software and app stores so we don't understand the years of limited adoptions of this idea. We can't influence a train in motion using a string but they will listen to their customers.
