Regarding: Why are the Group Details total and Groups total different?

Question:
================================================================
In the groups tab manual groups view, when I select a particular automatic group in the Groups section the highlighted row shows a Short Term gain of 46.92, while the corresponding group details section (above) shows a Short Term gain of 157.16! The discrepancy exists for several consecutive trades. Why would this be the case? BTW, the tax reports tab agrees with the Group section, while the paper 1099 agrees with the Group Details section.

Check to see if a trade has a basis adjustment. Go to the Transactions tab and double click on the trade and review the adjustments applied. To find the trade set the filter to Display Mode: By Symbols.

Also Wash Sales can adjust the gain loss amount. Select View/Properties/Wash Sales and switch it off to see if it makes a difference. Keep in mind, if a trade caused a wash sale adjustment then it had received a basis adjustment which cause the loss to increase. To discover the basis adjustment select the Reports tab and look at View: Wash Sale Event Summary.

In summary: The Groups screen shows the simple math calculation for combining two trades with no adjustment. This is the result of combining the data as viewed in the transactions screen. The tax report takes more into account. For example if there is a basis adjustment manually added or if there is an exercise/assign/expire adjustment or if there is a wash sale adjustment.
