Sync Time Out: Stops at 50% -

"This has worked fine until this past week when 1 of my accounts suddenly started stopping at the 50% mark of the sync download (the other accounts completed). However, when the sync download hits 50% my CPU processor goes to 100% busy and the machine hardly functions and I have to use task manager to end the TA application. I have tried restoring backup copies on another machine and the behavior is the same."

Here are a few ideas. Maybe the server on the brokerage side is timing out. This can happen during peak season or for large files. Maybe TA is left in a state with inconclusive data and is processing best it can. This means there can be some benefit in reducing the size of the request by using one of the settings in TA.

Alternative A:
1. In the Sync menu next File, Edit, View Tools... select Change Sync Date Range
2. Reduce the number of days per request
3. Try sync again.

Alternative B:
1. Sync menu, set the Sync to Manual in the Sync Range control
2. Set a small date range like 3 months using the From/To date setting
3. When finished restore the setting to automatic

Consider making a backup of your data (File/Save as Backup) before any major changes. In general TA can detect duplicate trades when sync is used but some brokerage may not correctly us the id fields and this can result in duplicates. If you find duplicates then you can delete date using TA tools or restore a known good set of data and import data again.
